Best of: The Golden Globes 2014

Ahhh award season is upon us! And Jolie Jouel is back once again to bring you the best jewelry looks from last night's Golden Globe Awards.

A few things of note: rocking one earring is still a thing (Emma Watson), earrings in general were the jewelry stars of the night, and a baby bump is still one of the best accessories you can have (Kerry Washington, Drew Barrymore, Olivia Wilde).

Who had your favourite look of the night? I loved new-comer and Aussie beauty Margot Robbie, the radiant Kate Beckinsale, and a sparkly and pregnant Olivia Wilde. Honorable mention to Amy Adams' long pendant and Rita's Wilson's mess of tangled necklaces.

Maternity Fashion: The Maxi Dress

Waking up and just throwing on whatever you feel inspired by is not as option when you're 8 months pregnant. I am just starting the eighth month of pregnancy (31 weeks) and while I've been doing alright with creatively dressing the bump, I am guessing I am about to have to get a lot more creative - the bigger she gets the fewer options I am left with. I am not a huge fan of maternity clothes (aside from maternity jeans and pants, which are a necessity in my eyes) so I've been trying to buy regular flowy tops and clothes that seem to stretch and expand with my belly.

The maxi dress is a perfect example of something you can buy this season from a "regular" store that will fit your pregnant belly and stretch with you as your bump grows.  This one, from Tart Collections, is not maternity, but works beautifully as a comfortable, stylish maternity dress. If you're pregnant this spring or summer, I would definitely recommend this dress.  It's stylish, comfortable, and easy to throw on in warm weather. It's a maternity fashion no brainer.

Through the Looking Glass

I love unique statement necklaces.  Have a pendant with a funny animal, a piece of food, or a surprising inanimate object? I'll likely fall hard for it.

So it's no surprise that when I saw this vintage gold magnifying glass necklace from the 1970s, I knew it had my name written all over it.  The necklace is the perfect length (bonus points for showcasing...and magnifying...the bump!). It is very comfortable to wear, despite its size, it's not too heavy. And yes, the glass inside actually magnifies.  This necklace isn't just for looks, it actually works!

Thanks to Frippery Vintage for sending this unique piece over.  Check out this vintage jewelry site for one of a kind pieces that you wont find anywhere else. Isn't there something magical about owning something from the past that stands the test of time? Oh what stories these jewels could tell.... Most pieces are one-offs (so if you see something you like, you better snatch it up!), but she happens to have another magnifying glass necklace in her shop if you're interested. Don't wait too long or it will be gone! More about this awesome vintage jewelry shop here.

Maternity Jewelry: For the Expectant Mom

Baby bumps are becoming one of the most fashionable accessories a woman can have. Every website I visit seems to have one celebrity announcing their pregnancy and another stylishly dressing their baby bump. Celebs have definitely led the way to stylish dressing and accessorizing during pregnancy and women have followed suit! Gone are the days of hiding behind baggy sweatshirts. Fitted maxi dresses, trendy tunics, and skinny jeans are the new maternity wear.

One of the best ways to highlight your bump is with a bump skimming necklace! Take a cue from Jessica Alba and wear a long necklace to show off your bump. Wearing your impending bundle of joy's initial around your neck is another fun way to accessorize during pregnancy. And you can continue to wear your sweet charm once baby is born. My favorite choice from the bunch? The long bump skimming peanut necklace I found on anthropologie.com. The peanut charm will rest on your little peanut and subtly signal to nosey stranger that yes, you are in fact expecting.
