Do or Don't? Turquoise Jewelry for Fall

Turquoise is one of my favourite colours and stones. I love the way turquoise looks with a tan and pops against a plain white tee.  But what do you think about turquoise jewelry in the colder months - is it appropriate for fall and winter?

I thought I would give it a go and wore this very chunky turquoise necklace with a softer blue sweater and was surprised by how much I liked the bright colour for fall. I think if done right, you can wear your summer jewelry a few months longer by styling with chunky knits, moody hues, and steering clear of white.

Line Lust: Gemma Redux SS13

Gemma Redux SS13 was revealed last week (I am always on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting new Gemma Redux pieces!) and it does not disappoint. Colour Moment: Turquoise

The first jewelry I fell in love with was a tray full of turquoise and silver jewels from a shop on a Native Reserve near my cottage. Something about those two colours together just spoke to me and will forever remind me of gloriously hot summers, teepees, and the sweet smell of a warm summer breeze. I wanted every piece of turquoise jewelry in the tray.  The chunkier the better. To this day I still love turquoise jewelry and the bohemian luxe flair that it ads to any outfit.

Celebrity Jewelry Style: January Jones

January Jones has an 'All-American' style when it comes to her jewelry choices. Choosing pieces that are reminiscent of the wild west and a little bit country, this gal favours turquoise stones, fringed tassels, and heavy hammered metal pieces. This actress also isn't afraid to take risks with headbands and hair pieces. I love that.

Green Machine

How pretty are theses green and turquoise bracelets from Purple Paparazzi? Turquoise jewelry is one of my all time favorites, and to me, it just screams summer. I love wearing turquoise jewelry with white sundresses or jeans and white tank. It's so simple and you can let the jewelry really have the spotlight.

That being said, I didn't follow this simple rule of dress today.  I am actually wearing a bright Spring dress from Zara. But it all still works together.  I call this type of dressing, "willing the weather to change." It's been dreadfully cool and rainy here for days.
